Daetwyler, a supplier of doctor blades and other flexo industry consumables, is celebrating 40 years of serving the US market. Founder, Peter Daetwyler and his wife Rosmarie first came to America with the vision of offering Daetwyler Doctor Blades to the US printing market. “When Rosmarie and I came here in 1975 we rented a desk in an office on Long Island, New York,” recalls Peter. “We could hardly speak English, but we had good Swiss products to sell and we were young and full of energy. Over the years our business expanded and we outgrew several locations. In 1990 we decided to move our operations to North Carolina to be closer to our customers. But no matter the location, as we grew the team, we made it a point to maintain a family atmosphere.” Over the years, as the company has grown, the family-owned aspect has remained intact. In fact, Ralph Daetwyler, one of Peter’s and Rosmarie’s two sons, now serves as the company President for Daetwyler USA. He is also an active board member of Daetwyler Global Tec Holding AG. “Having grown up in the family business, it’s hard to imagine life without Max Daetwyler Corporation,” says Ralph. “I am very proud to be at the helm of our US division which is now in its 40th year, and I am happy to say that we are striving to keep a tight-knit organization with a family culture and almost 100 employees.” Those employees, along with several dignitaries from Switzerland and the rest of Europe, were in attendance at the company’s celebration luncheon, held on October 1, 2015. The Consul General of Switzerland, representatives of the Embassy of Switzerland, Honorary Consul of Switzerland, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Hungary, officials from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, representatives from the office of Senator Richard Burr, and the Mayor of Huntersville were all treated to plant tours and then a multi-course meal during which presentations from the Daetwyler USA leadership and visiting guests of honor. Plans were also unveiled for the future of Daetwyler USA, including updates and remodeling to its Huntersville offices – including installation of adjustable height desks, glass-walled executive offices, and other enhancements designed for a more open workplace and increased employee interaction. “The last 40 years has been an adventure and we have our employees to thank for our success,” says Peter Daetwyler. “We’re looking forward to the next 40 years!”
